Tools of the Trade

CruzTools - Jack and Pot Wrench: I learned about this little guy in bassplayer magazine.  CruzTools put together a little 4" tool with a recessed 1/2", 7/16", and 12mm wrench made to handle the most common sizes of jacks and pots on instruments, amps, and pedals.  It fits in my pedalboard case and it's come in handy more than a few times already.  Between this and a good ol' Leatherman in my case - I'm good to go to change out strings, cables, jacks, pots, and just about anything else that can and will go wrong.

Stage Lights

This is one of those things that just sits in your pedalboard case.  You see it every 6 months or so and wonder why you even keep it around.  And then you have that one show, or play at that one church that doesn't believe in stage lights.  It's pitch black up there and you can't see squat: your music, your pedals, your fretboard, anything!

Mighty Brighty to the rescue!!  I love the 2 flexible lights - it allows you to bend them in front of your music stand to light up your paper without being seen from the audience.  I've also seen it attached to the back of a pedalboard to shine a little light on your effects.  It runs on 3 AAA batteries, or you can run it off an AC adapter.

Trust me on this one. It's $20, well worth it for that once in a blue moon occasion when you're desperate for it.
